The Glass - Half Full? Or Half Empty?

What is the answer to that age old question - Is the glass half full or half empty?
A friend of mine always says that the glass is just too big.
Personally, I think it depends on whether you're filling the glass or drinking from it.
What do you think? Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

I was wondering... Is it possible to be both?
Well, not at the same time, but does one always have to just an optimist or just a pessimist?
I find myself to be a little of both. I'd say on a normal basis I'm pretty optimistic, but at times I find myself in slumps that I just don't have a positive to say. It depends on the stituation and my mood. (My most frequent answer to opinion questions.)
The glass for instance - If I was pouring into the glass, it would be half full. However, if I'm drinking out of it, it would be half empty.
See what I mean? It depends on your perspective.
Personality factors into it but for the most part, it's a choice - are you going to allow yourself to find every negative thing you can to say about this stituation? Or are you going to make the most of it and try to find a way to make it enjoyable?
I always find myself feeling a lot better after the time I found a silver lining on the gray clouds.

It can be difficult, it can be annoying, but in the end, you'll be glad you did!

  1. The glass is always full. Air = Mass. Mass = something. Therefore, the air in the glass causes it to be always full, even if it's empty. tee hee.

I do like your point though, it makes a ton of sense :) Miss you, girl!

  3. This post is so true-it's up to you how full the glass is, how you choose to look at life... and finding the silver lining can sometimes be very hard in all the darkness, but it's always worth it in the end :). Thanks for this post! Oh, and have you heard about the Life is Sweet meme that started on Shilah? I just did a post on it linking to the original, if you want to check it out, it seems like a meme you'd enjoy :)
