Birthday Buzz

(Like my alliteration??)
Alright so first things first... you're all wondering what I did for my birthday. I didn't do anything too exciting but I'm map out my day for you.
  • Slept in!!! :)
  • Went into the kitchen to find: 1) Flowers and a note from my brother *gasp* and 2) My mother making blueberry muffins *yummmmm*
  • Lazed around and finished Matilda by Roald Dahl (Which I have to say is one of my favorite books.... I had read once before when I was young but I decided to read it again :) )
  • Got dressed
  • Felt very 16! :)
  • Hung out and went on facebook and blogger
  • Got 48 wall posts, 7 texts, and one phone call wishing me a happy birthday :)
  • Got bored because I was avoiding doing homework...
  • Helped my mom make my favorite food ever : CHOW SE BOWS!!!! (Read: Chinese pork-filled buns of goodness)
  • Went to the store with my dad to pick ice cream (Cookie Dough *yum*)
  • Ate!!!! :)
  • Opened presents
  • Ate Ice cream
  • Went to bed
Wait, I know that next question.... What did I get for my birthday? I will tell you.

Well, back in the fall, I told my parents that I wanted to re-do my room for my birthday because its very purple and cluttered.... So I got :
  • A bedspread ----------> (not my picture)
  • Probably this paint ----------> (We haven't bought yet but we looked at paint chips and this is our favorite)
  • Pop tarts, Peachie-O's, and gum
  • My brother got me flowers. :)
  • Gray TOMS!!!!!!!! :) -------->
My best friend was going to visit me on my birthday but it didn't work out, so she came to see me yesterday. First thing she asked me was if I got Owl City tickets (the 2nd thing on my wish list) and I said no and that I was just planning on buying them myself. She then handed me a card and told me to open it. This is what I found ---------------------->
SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! :)

Oh and Photoshoot pictures coming soon!

Awkward
  • The kid on the bus who was totally flirting with me...
  • The same kid who had to tell me several times that he was going to California for the Break.... Are you trying to make me jealous? Because it MIGHT be working....
  • People asking me what I was going to do on my Break..... "Well I'm going to be sitting around at home alone on the computer and watching TV. Oh yea, BEST BREAK EVER!!!!" (So I ended up getting to do more than that but thats pretty much what I had planned...)
  • My guy friend who had to text me from California several times to tell me how WARM and SUNNY it was.... So it rained the whole week here.... Does that mean you have to rub it on?!?
  • I tried to find out if the Barn I ride at needed any help.... And waiting the whole day for an answer that never came....
  • Communication breakdowns with parents.... Every teenagers FAVORITE thing!!!
  • Watching Pride and Prejudice with middle schoolers who are whining about the length...
  • Being asked what the scab on my arm is from.... Yes, I picked at a zit but I'm not going to tell you that!!!
  • Having a 6th grader ask me if I'd been using something for my acne...
  • Running out of things to do....
  • Leaving my math homework to the last day, then opening my notebook only to find that I already did it..... No idea when but it was finished.... Way to not procastinate for once!!!
  • Leaving the reading of All Quiet on the Western Front to the last couple days.... and having only 15 pages out of the 6 chapters you had to read left on the first day back.....
  • Having a reading check with one question from those 15 pages I didn't have time for....
  • Almost being driven to a place with one friend and then leaving with another... ( I ended up being driven by my parents..)
  • Having my friends tell me when I should or shouldn't have my birthday party.... (Well.. at least I know they want to be there)
  • Wanting to correct people who try to sing the Friday song because I know almost all the words...

Someone's got a birthday coming up.....

So I know this girl.....
and her birthday is Saturday.

She will be turning 16.

It will also be her golden birthday because Saturday is the 16th.... ( For those of you not familiar with this term your golden birthday is the year your age matches the day on which you were born.)

She's pretty excited.

Oh yeah..... That girl is me.

The Glass - Half Full? Or Half Empty?

What is the answer to that age old question - Is the glass half full or half empty?
A friend of mine always says that the glass is just too big.
Personally, I think it depends on whether you're filling the glass or drinking from it.
What do you think? Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

I was wondering... Is it possible to be both?
Well, not at the same time, but does one always have to just an optimist or just a pessimist?
I find myself to be a little of both. I'd say on a normal basis I'm pretty optimistic, but at times I find myself in slumps that I just don't have a positive to say. It depends on the stituation and my mood. (My most frequent answer to opinion questions.)
The glass for instance - If I was pouring into the glass, it would be half full. However, if I'm drinking out of it, it would be half empty.
See what I mean? It depends on your perspective.
Personality factors into it but for the most part, it's a choice - are you going to allow yourself to find every negative thing you can to say about this stituation? Or are you going to make the most of it and try to find a way to make it enjoyable?
I always find myself feeling a lot better after the time I found a silver lining on the gray clouds.

It can be difficult, it can be annoying, but in the end, you'll be glad you did!
